Anna Holte

Anna Holte, 90, Breckenridge, MN passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 9, at 10:00 AM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Hjerdal Lutheran Cemetery, rural Voltaire, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Anna was born on December 17, 1923 in Velva, ND to John and Emma (Ingebrigtson) Slotsveen and was baptized on July 6, 1924. She was raised in the Voltaire, ND area, confirmed on June 18, 1939 at Hjerdal Lutheran Church, and graduated as Valedictorian from Voltaire High School in 1942. She attended Minot State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools from 1943 to 1949.

Anna was united in marriage to LeRoy Holte on January 16, 1950 in Towner, ND. They farmed and raised their children on a farm near Velva, ND. Anna was a lifetime member of the Voltaire Hjerdal Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. In 1988, they retired from farming and continued to live on the farm until July of 2000 when they moved to Wahpeton, ND. Anna entered the St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, MN in May 2002.

Anna was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for big family gatherings. She was known for her smile and laughter and loved being with her children and grandchildren.

Anna is survived by her children, Darrell Holte, Turtle Lake, ND, Corrine (Gregory) Sorge, Portland, OR, Harriet (Arlin) Buchholz, Wyndmere, ND, Janice (Max) Giles, Fairfield, IA, Larry (Wanda) Holte, Bismarck, ND, Delare Holte, Portland, OR, Gregory Holte, Wahpeton, ND; fifteen grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and two special family members, Sherry Holte and Pam Holte.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy on September 26, 2006, an infant brother, Lester, a brother, Melvin, a sister, Dorothy, and an infant grandson, Nicholas Holte.
