Clarence Christensen

Clarence Christensen, 90, Wahpeton, ND and formerly Fairmount, ND died on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23 at the Fairmount United Methodist Church, Fairmount, ND at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark Gronseth officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Vertin-Munson from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service. There will also be visitation at the church Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount, ND.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home.

Clarence was born September 16, 1923 the son of Maren and Mads Christensen in rural Fairmount, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Rosholt SD. Clarence was a 1941 graduate of Fairmount high school. Following his graduation from high school and the death of his brother-in-law Clarence moved to the family farm, rural Fairmount, where he spent the next 64 years of his life before moving to Wahpeton.

On September 27, 1952 Clarence was united in marriage to Madonna M Fleischauer, the couple moved to the family farm where they raised their son and spent the next 53 years. In 2004 the couple moved to Wahpeton ND and in 2012 Clarence entered St. Catherine's Care Center.

Through his life Clarence served on numerous Church boards as well as the Fairmount Cemetery Board. Clarence loved the outdoors, he fished and hunted most of his life, he had a great love for animals and he spoke often and fondly of his many dogs cats and horses

Clarence is survived by his wife Madonna, and his son Cal. He was preceded in death by his parents Mads and Maren, his brothers Delmar (Evelyn) Christensen, Lloyd (Joyce) Christensen, and his sister Marion Moon (Gordon), and nephew Jerry Christensen.
