Clem Sikorski

November 24, 1925 — January 24, 2009











Clement ‘Clem’ L. Sikorski, 83, Breckenridge , MN , formerly of Fairmount , ND died unexpectedly Saturday evening, January 24, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home, Breckenridge. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 29 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fairmount with Rev. Scott Sautner as celebrant. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 28 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home; also, visitation Thursday one hour prior to time of service at the church. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery , rural Fairmount in the spring of the year. Military Honors will be conducted by the Milton E. Stevenson American Legion Post No. 106, Fairmount.





Clement Leo Sikorski was born November 24, 1925, in Wilkin County near Doran, MN to Henry J. and Margaret E. (Muellenbach) Sikorski. He grew up and attended area country schools in Wilkin and Traverse Counties , and worked on the family farm. He later did carpentry work for Alfred Scheidegger. Clem was drafted into the US Army and served our country during WWII from October 1944 until November 1946 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was with the Red Arrow Division stationed in Luzon , Japan . Clem saw the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki .





He married Viola “Ole” E. Wawers on May 13, 1947 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fairmount.





Clem worked for the Great Northern Railroad and began farming in 1954, owned a bar in Tenney, MN for a brief time, installed acoustical ceiling tile with Flament-Ulman of Moorhead, MN from 1964-1986, and later with his brother Vic, until suffering a stroke in November of 2002, he then entered St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home.





He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Milton E. Stevenson American Legion Post No. 106, Fairmount.





Clem and Ole enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending weekends with nephews and several of “his boys” at their cabin at Lake Traverse , SD.





He is survived by his 4 sisters and 3 brothers, Vic (Marlys) Sikorski, Fairmount, Roni Rode, Wahpeton, ND, Vincent (Beverly) Sikorski, Excelsior, MN, John (Donna) Sikorski, Wyndmere, ND, Marge Kressin, Ashby, MN, Pat (Steve) Palmer, Moorhead, MN, and Cathy (Pinky) Rubish, Fairmount;1 sister-in-law, Barb Sikorski, Wayzata, MN; and many nieces and nephews.





Clem was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola “Ole” E., April 9, 1992; his brother, Henry ‘Fritz’; 2 brothers-in-law, Vern Rode and Al Kressin; and his nephew, Jerry Sikorski.





Clem will be lovingly remembered for his quick-wit, warm heart, generosity, and healthy laugh.
