Dale Stein

Dale Stein, 61, Dwight, ND passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Fargo, ND. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 14, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Dale was born on November 8, 1951 to Earl P. and Irene (Nehmer) Stein at Wahpeton, ND. He grew up and attended school in Wahpeton where he graduated from Wahpeton High School. He attended UND in Grand Forks for 3 ½ years where he majored in Art and Ceramics. Dale was a routing clerk for Burlington Northern railroad for over 20 years and made his home in Dwight, ND where he loved living and served as mayor for several terms.

Dale was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and canned much of his own produce and meat. He enjoyed riding motorcycle with his friends and family and also was an excellent musician and played drums in two bands. He loved antiques especially primitives and Rosemeade Pottery. Dale was a member of Pheasants Forever and raised and released birds to keep up the population. He also worked with a child through the Kinship Program. Dale will be very much missed by his family.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Danielle Stein, Amenia, ND; his brothers, Earl A. (JoAnne) Stein, Shawano, WI, Willard (Patsy) Stein, Wahpeton, ND; his sisters, Janice (Charlie) Bellmore, Wahpeton, Claudette (Jerry) Bosen, Andover, MN, Diane Spears, Sioux Falls, SD; his "adopted" brother, Tom Fermoyle, Dwight, ND; special friend, Dr. Dick Lenzmeier; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers-in-law, Mike Spears, Jerry Striffler, and one nephew, Daniel Stein.
