Darrel Quamme

Darrel H. Quamme, 92, of Dwight , ND and Mesa , AZ , died Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Banner Gardens Hospice House, Mesa , AZ. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 10 at Faith Lutheran Church , Dwight with Rev. Gordie Lee officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Willow Creek Chapel ( 920 3 ^rd Ave N ), Wahpeton; also, visitation Friday one hour prior to time of service at the church. Interment will be held at Faith Lutheran Cemetery , Dwight.

Darrel Horace Quamme was born June 25, 1916, to Theodore and Rosina (Wateland) Quamme at Big Sandy, Montana. The family relocated to North Dakota after his Mother’s death in 1922.

Darrel married Emma Stoltenow on November 5, 1941, and they spent their working years farming in the Dwight area. At retirement, Darrel took up golf which became his life’s passion. He loved the winters in Arizona where he made many wonderful friends. His wife Emma died in 1995.

He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Quamme, Maple Grove, MN, son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Susan Quamme, rural Wahpeton; granddaughter, Jill (Tim) Wohlers; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isaac, Reagan, and Ashlyn Wohlers, all of rural Wahpeton; and 2 sisters, Pearl Smith, Spokane, WA and Beverly Williams, Alexandria, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma; grandson, Scott Quamme; sister, Opal Gramlich; and 1 brother, Wallace Quamme.

Memorials preferred to Faith Lutheran Church , 316 Hill Street , Dwight , ND 58075 or to Faith Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
