David Awe, 67, Wahpeton, ND, died October 23, 2008 at Frazee Nursing Home, Frazee , MN . The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 25, 2008, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Terry Dodge as celebrant. The visitation will be Friday, from 6 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM prayers service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery , Wahpeton.





David was born June 3, 1941, the son of Reinhard and Agnes (Della) Awe at Christine , ND . He grew up and attended school at Fairmount , ND . David served in the US Army and married Marilyn Meyer on July 1, 1966. The couple lived in Wahpeton and David worked for Milwaukee Railroad, later Canadian Pacific Railroad for over 40 years. After his retirement he continued to live in Wahpeton, enjoying summers at Ottertail Lake in Minnesota .





David was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.





David is survived by his wife, Marilyn Awe, Wahpeton; daughter Heather Nelson, Wahpeton; granddaughter, Lt. Jg Brianna Jackson and her husband Lt. Ryan Jackson and two sons, Byron C. and Aiden R., all of Virginia Beach, VA; brother Richard (Cheryl) Awe, Amarillo, TX; sister Ruth Clark, Seattle, WA; and sister-in-law, Elaine Awe, Willmar, MN.





He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clifford Awe, his sister Susan Belinskey and her husband Donald.
