David Goroski

August 18, 1970 — August 3, 2014

David Goroski, 43, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Sunday, August 3, peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, friends and his priest. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 11:00 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Greg Haman as Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 6:45 Knights of Columbus Rosary and a 7 PM Prayer Vigil all at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service Friday morning. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

David was born August 18, 1970, in Breckenridge, MN, the son of Robert and Betty (Bobiney) Goroski. He was diagnosed as a young boy with Cystic Fibrosis, a disease he battled his entire life. David attended St. John's Catholic Elementary School and Wahpeton High School. He continued his education at NDSCS in Wahpeton where he studied Computer Science. He worked for Meritcare in Fargo and later NDSCS where he worked in the ITS Department for 10 years before retiring due to his health in July. David was united in marriage with Heather Zilmer on October 3, 2009, at St. John's Catholic Church. The couple lived in Wahpeton.

David was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church, and also the Knights of Columbus; his faith was a very important aspect of his life. He enjoyed history and traveling. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid bow hunter, something he enjoyed sharing with his wife. He treasured most of all, his time spent with family.

David is survived by his wife, Heather, Wahpeton; his mother, Betty Goroski, Wahpeton; five siblings: Steve Goroski, Bismarck, ND; Carmela (Tim) Hoerman, Westmont, IL; Ron (Shelley) Goroski, West Fargo, ND; Mike (Suanne) Goroski, Wahpeton; Renee (Dean) Langenwalter, Wahpeton; father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Diane Zilmer, Fergus Falls, MN; and two brothers-in-law, Wes (Tara) Zilmer and Keith (Kari) Zilmer; nieces and nephews: Avery Hoerman, Westmont, IL; Michaela and Logan Goroski, West Fargo, ND; Jon and Mary Goroski, Wahpeton, ND; Nicholas, Claire and Ella Langenwalter, Wahpeton, ND; Kyle, Karsyn and Alivia Zilmer, Rothsay, MN and Ivy and Opal Zilmer, Fargo, ND; and his two beloved companions and hunting dogs, Natie and Lexie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bob" Goroski, and his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's School, CFA of North Dakota or The American Cancer Society.
