Deloris Medenwald

Deloris Medenwald, 91, Hankinson, ND, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. Gerard's Community Nursing Home, Hankinson, ND. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, at 10:30 AM, at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Deloris was born on May 6, 1923 in Hankinson, ND to Herman and Erna (Medenwaldt) Roeder. She grew up and attended school in rural Hankinson. She was united in marriage to Ruben Medenwald at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND on November 25, 1942.

Ruben and Deloris started farming in the Cayuga, ND, Claire City, SD, and Lidgerwood, ND areas after his military service. After retiring from farming in 1985, they moved to Breckenridge, MN. At that time, Deloris started working for Super 8 Motel in Wahpeton in the laundry department until she retired in 1996. Ruben preceded her in death on December 16, 2010. In April 2011, Deloris moved to Dakota Estates in Lidgerwood until 2012, when she became a resident of St. Gerard's Nursing Home.

Deloris was active in the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed quilting and sewing/repairing clothes. She also loved playing cards and doing puzzles with her family.

Deloris is survived by her childen, Sheila (Delas) Schultz, Claire City, SD, Deborah (Jim) Woitaszewski, Wallace, SD, Sandra Bartunek, Fargo, ND, Ruben R. (Jane) Medenwald, Lidgerwood, ND, Ione (Steve) Hermes, Fairmount, ND, Tim Medenwald, Wahpeton, ND; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Orville Roeder, Walla Walla, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ruben O. Medenwald; her daughter Sylvia Ceroll; her grandsons, Darin Ceroll and Dayl Ruud; her five brothers, and one sister.
