Duane Manthie

September 3, 1942 — May 28, 2011

Duane was born September 3, 1942, in Breckenridge, MN to Alfred and Lou Ida (Bendt) Manthie. He grew up in Tenney, MN, and attended school in Tenney and Campbell, MN. He married LaVonne Kackman on March 1, 1964. This union was blessed with 4 children. Duane and LaVonne lived in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area for many years. LaVonne passed away August 23, 2005. In recent years, Duane moved to South Sioux City, NE, where he lived with his sister.

Duane worked at Flaa Oil Co, Wahpeton; Big Dipper, MN-Dak and 3- M, Wahpeton Middle School, and Twin Town Taxi. He liked fishing, spending time at the lakes, gardening, driving cab, playing cards, and watching Twins baseball. He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, and all those who called him Grandpa.

He is survived by a son, Shane (Gwen Thiel) Manthie of St. Cloud, MN; two daughters, Tara (Tom Buhr) Pasko of Enderlin, ND, and Shalette (J. C.) Glasby of Campbell, MN; 12 grandchildren, Cristina, Craig, Amber, Autumn, Bobbi, Justin, Dallas, Zach, Shelby, Skylar, Mike and Kayla; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine (Ping Davis) Streyffeler of South Sioux City, NE; a brother-in-law Darrel Kackman of California; nieces and nephews; special family friend Sharon Tetzlaff and her family; and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Craig in 1963; grandson, Deven Wehri; brother-in-law, Mal Streyffeler; sisters-in-law LaVy McGray and Roz Kackman; and his in-laws Walt and Lorene Kackman.
