Earl Ziegelmann, 72, Great Bend , ND , passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at his home. The Memorial Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. A Memorial Prayer Vigil will be Monday at 7 PM with sharing with the family from 6 PM to 8 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery , Wahpeton.





Earl was born July 21, 1937 in Richland County , the son of Otto and Adela (Bohn) Ziegelmann. He attended rural school at Great Bend , ND . Earl was united in marriage to Darlene Zettler, after a three week courtship, on April 3, 1958 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. They lived at Great Bend and Earl worked for Bohn Implement, Great Bend , Manville Stoltenow, Dave Miller Farms, Minn-Dak Co-op, Wahpeton, and for 15 years 3M, later Imation, Wahpeton, retiring in 1998.



He enjoyed helping his wife with their upholstery business, D&E Upholstery.





Earl was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Eagles, longtime volunteer for Great Bend Fire Department, Great Bend Mayor and Great Bend City Council member. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards, watching westerns, helping on the farm and watching his grandchildren special events. He took great pride in being involved in Great Bend parks and community. He played softball and coached girls and women softball for several years . He was at ease visiting with others and was known as a good story and joke teller.





Earl was survived by his wife Darlene, Great Bend, ND; four daughters: Carmen (Sheldon Smith) Egerdahl, Arlington, SD; Dawn (Ted) Luick, Fairmount, ND; Donna (David) Buskohl, Wyndmere, ND; Vickie (Brad Carr) Smith-Carr, Chanhassen, MN; his son-in-law, Tom Kubela, Wahpeton; 13 grandchildren, David Egerdahl, Jessica Egerdahl, Kassi (Wade) Griffin, Kyle Kubela, Derrick (Katie) Rossow, Chance (Dallas) Havig, Courtney Rosssow, Cody Buskohl, Danielle Buskohl, Casey Buskohl, Tyler Smith, Nathan Smith, Joshua Smith; five great grandchildren, Lenae Egerdahl, Theodore Egerdahl, Alexis (Egerdahl) Ripper, Wyatt Griffin, Amelia Rossow.





He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Cheryl Kubela, his brothers, Roy, Harvey, and Howard Ziegelmann, and his sister Hazel Buck.
