Elaine Rose was born December 4, 1929, at Dwight, ND, to Harry and Cleo (Berndt) Anderson. She attended Dwight grade school and Wahpeton High School, graduating in the class of 1947. She attended Valley City State Teacher's College and taught several years in rural schools in Richland County. Elaine married Earl Wold on October 20, 1948, and they farmed in Dwight Township. The couple retired; moving into Wahpeton in November, 1983. Earl died on January 13, 1984. Earl and Elaine had two daughters; Muriel and Melinda. Years later grandson, Steve, was born and brought her many years of joy.

Elaine had an appreciation for the simple things in life, a lesson she learned from growing up during the depression and war years. Her interests included reading, music, poetry, flowers and nature. She earned numerous awards for volunteering, including 30 years at the Leach Home. She wrote various articles and poems which were published in several magazines, as well as the "Historical Highlights" column for the Daily News for over 20 years. She leaves a legacy of history in her compiling and printing copies of both sides of the family's history; as well as the Dwight Township history.

Because Elaine enjoyed children, she implemented and presented programs at the Richland County Museum "country school" for many years to regional school children. She enjoyed babysitting and provided a home for some NDSCS students who lived with her while attending school. Elaine's community participation included: Friends of the Library, Wahpeton Area Retired Teachers, Non-denominational Christian Church and Toastmaster's International. She also was a long time member of the Richland County Historical Society, and served 20 years as an officer. During her tenure, the major rooms remodeling project was completed and the east annex addition was built.

Elaine is survived by her two daughters: Muriel Rodriguez (Meryl); Melinda Miranowski (Stan); her grandson, Steve Rodriguez; three brothers and two sisters: Donald (Dorothy) Anderson, Harry (Doris) Anderson Jr., Dwight (Janie) Anderson, Delores Anderson, Mavis Morgan and her sister-in-law, Lorene DeSpain; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry (1962) and Cleo (1989), her husband, Earl (1984), brother Elwood (1966), brother-in-laws: Ray Wold and Tom Morgan; sister-in-laws and their spouses: Fern (Dean) Hutchinson, Ruby (Fred) Aipperspach, Edith (Eddie) Lehman, and Hattie (Harold) Lenzmeier.
Elaine's family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at Sanford health for their excellent care
