Howard Kurtz

March 17, 1929 — April 17, 2016

Howard Kurtz, 87, of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Galchutt, ND passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home. A family service will be at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Michael Buller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Galchutt. Military Honors will be provided by the Oie-Wold-Leland American Legion Post #282 – Galchutt, ND, and the North Dakota Funeral Honors Team. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Howard was born on March 17, 1929, in Galchutt, N.D. His parents, Irvin and Hannah Erickson Kurtz, predeceased him and also a brother, Darrel B. Kurtz and a sister, Mary Delores Kurtz Lang. He is survived by two sisters, Virginia K. Crain and Phyllis K. Palmer of Las Cruces, NM, and brother, Duane I. Kurtz of rural Galchutt. He is also survived by two daughters, Judy Adams, Melrose, MN, Trina Cornelius and family, White Bear Lake, MN, two nephews and two nieces and seven grand-nieces and nephews.

Howard grew up in rural Galchutt attending Galchutt Schools and Wahpeton High School graduating in 1946. He served in the United States Air Force from January 6, 1951 to January 5, 1955, as an aircraft mechanic. He was then employed as an aircraft mechanic and equipment operator at the U.S Air Force Reserve Base, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport until his retirement in 1986.
