Jack Griffin

Jack A. Griffin, 88, Fargo , ND , formerly of Wahpeton, ND and rural Wyndmere , ND , died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Meritcare Hospital , Fargo , ND . The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 27, at Peace Lutheran Church , Barney , N.D. with Rev. Visitation will be Friday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery , Barney , ND .





Jack was born November 9, 1920 near Delamere , ND , the son of Lee and Helen (Rush) Griffin . He attended school in West End Township and on September 21, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Mindeman at Peace Lutheran Church , Barney , ND . The couple farmed in West End Township , rural Wyndmere until 1975. The couple moved to Wahpeton where Jack worked as a custodian with North Dakota State College of Science. The couple spent their winters in Mesa , AZ through 1980’s until 1996. Jack and Dorothy moved to the Evergreens of Fargo in August 2008 where he resided until the time of death.





Jack was a long time member of Peace Lutheran Church where he was confirmed on May 12, 1961. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, bowling, gardening in the his later years, and spending time with his family and friends.





Jack is survived by his wife Dorothy, Fargo; his two daughters: Gail (Sherman) Waagen, West Fargo; Judy (Kirk) Rosin, Casselton, ND; his son, Larry (Debra) Griffin, Janesville, MN; his brother, Cleo (Ethel) Griffin, Wahpeton; his sister, Helen Goerndt, Breckenridge, MN; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two more on the way, three step-grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.





He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Curtis, and brothers: Francis, Raymond, Donald, and his sister, Mary Dotzenrod.
