James Kosek

James M. Kosek, 86, rural Wahpeton, ND, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, at St. Catherine’s Living Center , Wahpeton. The Funeral Mass will be 2:30 PM, Thursday, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4 PM to 7 PM, with a 5:30 PM, Prayer Vigil at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton ( 920 3 rd Ave. N. ), and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery , Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.





Jim was born August 1, 1923 at rural Wahpeton, ND, the son of Frank and Anna (Kouba) Kosek. He attended school at Dwight No. 1 Country School and Wahpeton High School . He farmed with his father; on October 16, 1946 he married Lorraine Matheson at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton. They farmed and raised their three children in rural Wahpeton. On June 19, 1976, Jim married Luella Fagre. Jim retired from farming in 1984 and continued to live on the farm until recently entering St. Catherine’s Living Center .





Jim was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and a sixty year member of the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and dancing.





Jim is survived by his wife, Luella, Wahpeton; and his three children: Jeanne (Virgil) DeVine, Breckenridge, MN; Carol (Ken) Luebke, Rosholt, SD; Bill (Sara) Kosek, Highbridge, WI; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; three step children: Dale (Cill) Fagre, Barrett, MN; Linda (Wally) Andersen, Hoffman, MN; Tim (Marlene) Fagre, Barrett, MN; 7 step grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren; his sister, Ethel Horn, Breckenridge, MN; and his nephew Jim Horn, St. Paul, MN;





He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister.
