James R. Olson, 81, Wahpeton, ND, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at St. Catherine’s Living Center , Wahpeton, ND. There will be no funeral as that was the wishes of James.





James Russell Olson was born April 24, 1928, at Plentywood , MT to Hardy and Emma (Ringquist) Olson.





On March 28, 1948, he married Dorothy J. Grady at Tintah , MN . Following their marriage they lived in Campbell , MN . He was employed at Cargill for 3 years. He was employed as a custodian for 29 years at North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton. In 1957 the couple moved to Breckenridge , MN , and in 1961 they moved to Wahpeton. Dorothy died on February 13, 1997. He continued to live in Wahpeton and in July of 2006 he entered St. Catherine’s Living Center . He enjoyed art and tinkering around the house.





He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerome (Patricia) Olson, Minneapolis, MN; 9 grandchildren, Todd (Carrie) Spellerberg, Ryan Spellerberg, Joshua Olson, Elizabeth (James) Covey, Patty Olson, Ashley Anderson, Jordan Livingston-Olson, Meech Anderson, Sabrina Livingston-Olson; 6 great-grandchildren, Gage Covey, Bethany Olson, Lillian Covey, Jaden Olson, Skyah Jackson, Keyonna Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.





He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Olson; daughter, Shawn Spellerberg;



and his sister, Jean.





He was loved by many and will be missed greatly by all.
