Janel Nordick

Janel Nordick, 52, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 20, at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Morris J. Stephens officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 pm to 8 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Janel was born on March 20, 1960 to Earl and Mary (O'Brien) Mittag in Breckenridge, MN. She grew up and attended school in Wahpeton graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1978. After graduating, Janel started working for 3M and worked there until 1994. Janel was united in marriage to David Nordick on January 14, 1989 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Until 2000, Janel operated a daycare. She was currently employed as a receptionist with Essentia Health in Wahpeton.

Janel was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and also was a member of Women of Today. She enjoyed traveling when able and baking. She loved getting together with her family at the holidays and also loved the companionship of her pet Yorki, Bella. Janel was known as a "people person" and was very dedicated to her "patients" at the clinic that she would admit everyday. She touched a lot of people in her life.

Janel is survived by her husband, Dave, Wahpeton, ND; her children, Wade (fiancé, Lindsey Medenwald) Nordick, and Ashley Nordick, both of Wahpeton; her mother, Mary Mittag, Wahpeton; her sister, Karen (Tim) Stroklund, Wahpeton; her brother, Dwaine (Helen Carlson) Mittag, Renton, WA; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Rosella Nordick, Fergus Falls, MN; her five brothers-in-law and their spouses, several nieces and nephews, and her special Yorki, Bella.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Mittag; and her sister-in-law, Diana Nordick.
