John Dahlgren, 67, Wahpeton, ND, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at his residence in Wahpeton. A Spring Memorial Service and burial will be held and announced at a later date.





John Charles Dahlgren was born on May 5, 1941, in Wahpeton to Charles and Dagmar (Homand) Dahlgren. He grew up in Wahpeton and attended public school, graduating in 1959 from Wahpeton High School . During high school he worked at the local bowling alley and after graduation moved to Bismarck to help manage a bowling alley. He entered the United States Army on November 15, 1963, and served with the 709 th Military Police Battalion in Germany . He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1965. He returned to Wahpeton where he worked for various local companies including Imation, Primewood, and Sonne Labs. He was also employed as a mechanic for the City of Wahpeton .





John was an avid bowler all his life. In 1981 he was inducted into the Wahpeton Bowling Hall of Fame. He also had a strong interest in old locomotives; especially the steam engines and followed their history and talked of his rides on the old “engines”.





He is survived by local relatives in the Wahpeton area. He was preceded in death by his parents.
