Les Amdahl

August 21, 1950 — April 30, 2011

Les was born on August 21, 1950 to Dale and Ruth (Hjellming) Amdahl in Webster, SD. He grew up and attended school in the Marvin/Summit SD area. Les worked for various farmers around that area. On February 1, 1968 he entered the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He returned and was honorably discharged on September 24, 1969.

Les was united in marriage to Cindy Lauritsen in Watertown, SD on March 27, 1971. They lived in the Marvin area until 1976 when they moved to Campbell, MN where he worked for the GTA Elevator until he started his own trucking business. In 1989, Les started working for local elevators until the spring of 2004 when he began working for Dakota Ag Coop in Mooreton, ND where he worked until the present time.

Les was always willing to help others in a tough spot. He was known for his knowledge of gardening and loved to spend time with his family and giving lawnmower rides to his grandkids.

Les is survived by his wife, Cindy, Barney, ND; his daughter, Lori (Marty) Borgen, Claire City, SD; His sons, Jamey Amdahl, Breckenridge, MN, Kelly Amdahl, Barney, ND; his daughter-in-law, Nicole Amdahl, Wahpeton; his five grandchildren, Levi and Luke Kohlhase, Gavin, Kierstin, and Hayden Amdahl; his brothers and sisters, Sharon (Virgil) Snell, Milbank, SD, Lee (Della) Amdahl, Woonsocket, SD, Linda (Galen) Bauman, Watertown, SD, Shelly (Arlo) Anderson, Summit, SD, Kevin (Lori) Amdahl, Sioux Falls, SD, Terry (Terry) Amdahl, Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Ruth Amdahl; and his brothers, Jerry and Gary Amdahl.
