Lois Oscarson

August 9, 1932 — October 17, 2010

Lois Marilyn (Knatterud) Oscarson was born August 9, 1932 to Christian and Carrie (Bondeli) Knatterud at Maddock , ND . Lois graduated from Benson County Agricultural School in 1950. She attended Minot State Teacher's College and graduated with honors from North Dakota State College (NDSU) with a degree in Home Economics Education. Lois taught in Henning , MN where she met the love of her life, Raymond Oscarson. They were married on June 28, 1956 at Lois' home church, North Viking Lutheran in Maddock.





Ray and Lois made their home at the family farm between Abercrombie and Galchutt. God blessed them with three daughters- Renee, Becky, and Judy. Lois' beloved husband Ray died unexpectedly on May 25, 1974.





Lois loved the Lord and faithfully served Him in her family, church, and community. As a homemaker, she loved sewing, cooking, baking, and was an avid reader. She was an artist with an eye for color, and her hobbies included painting and card-making. Lois was known for her talent and creativity as a quilt-maker. She shared her skills with the community through years, as leader for the Eager Workers 4-H Club, and involvement with Homemakers and Quilter's Guild.





Lois was an active member of Bethany Free Lutheran Church , serving many years as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and was active in the Women's Missionary Federation.





Lois enjoyed her cabin on Pickerel Lake where she spent time with her children and grandchildren. During the last decade she lived with Renee and at Countryside Inn Memory Care, Rosholt, SD.





Lois is survived by her three daughters, Renee Oscarson, Brookings, SD, Becky (Doug) Urness, Yankton, SD, Judy (Roger) Johnson, Britton, SD; grandchildren, Ashley Urness, Sioux Falls, SD, Lance Johnson, Britton, SD, Megan Urness, St. Paul, MN, Lindsey Johnson, Aberdeen, SD; sisters, Maxine (Norris) Halvorson, Carol Pederson, Joan (Alan) Bratvold; sisters-in-law, Ella Oscarson, Adeline Holte, Rhoda Oscarson, and many nieces and nephews.





She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, her brother, Merton, and many beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
