Lois Tracy

Lois Tracy, 85, Breckenridge , MN , formerly of Fairmount , ND , died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Hospital, Breckenridge. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 28 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fairmount with con-celebrants, Rev. Scott Sautner and Rev. William Ovsak. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service followed by a Christian Mother’s Rosary at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton; also, visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery , Wheaton , Minnesota .

Lois Christine Tracy was born April 18, 1924, at Tenney , MN to Alois and Wilhelmina (Durner) Wittman. She graduated from Campbell , MN High School. She went to Wheaton , MN and received her teacher certificate. She taught at several rural schools in Minnesota and North Dakota . On March 21, 1952, she married Norris J. Tracy at Tenney , MN . The couple lived in Tenney. They farmed and had a produce route out of Fairmount. In 1957 the family moved into Fairmount. Lois continued to teach until 1961. She was the news reporter of the local news for the Fairmount News. She worked at the Fairmount Post Office and eventually was postmaster until 1992. Her husband Norris, died on June 14, 1996. Lois lived in Fairmount until the past two years when she moved to the Leach Home, Wahpeton and then St. Francis HealthCare Campus-Home, Breckenridge.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Christian Mother’s, previously served as secretary of the Altar Society, former church organist, election board member, and Homemaker’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needle work. She loved raising 7 children and the joys of being a ‘Grandmotehr’.

Lois is survived by her 7 children, Kraig (Becky) Tracy, Fairmount, Brent (Char) Tracy and their children, Kyla (Jared) Schultz and Wyatt, Fairmount, Joel (Mike) Barnes and their children, Anna (Kevin) Baumbach and Garrett, Victoria, MN, Kern (Debby) Tracy and their children, Melissa (Mark) Knudsen, Valerie, Fairmount, Celene (Rick) Gunderson and their children, Brock and Brett, Loretto, MN, Norlene (John) Bleskacek, and their son Joshua, Wrenshall, MN, Warren (Shelly) Tracy and their children, Madelyn and Norris, Roberts, WI; 2 great-grandchildren, Abreena and Dorren Knudsen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norris, June 14, 1996; and her 3 brothers, Orville, Norman, and Dale.
