Marjorie West

July 3, 1931 — February 28, 2010

Marjorie was born July 3, 1931, in Cromwell Township , near Hawley , MN , the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Gruhl) Beckett. She attended country school at Elkten Township , and for four years at Riverton Township , District 52. She attended 8 th grade through High School at Glyndon. Marjorie was united in marriage to Ross West on October 25, 1949 in Hawley. The couple moved near Breckenridge , MN where they farmed until 1951 when they moved southwest of Wahpeton where they farmed and raised their family.





Marjorie was a faithful servant of her church, Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was always caring for others and was known to many as their 2 nd mother. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for family when her health allowed her and was always baking, cooking and canning for her family, neighbors and friends.





Marjorie is survived by her husband, Ross, rural Wahpeton; and their seven children: Rodney (June) West, Mt. Vernon, WA; Joy (Arden) Hanson, Tucson, AZ; Reggie (Sherry) West, Tucson, AZ; Wade (Jana) West, Arlington, VA; Pauline (Ordell) Akland, Yankton, SD; Darwin “Gus” (Nancy) West, Wahpeton; Jeremy (Crystal) West, Tucson, AZ; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers, Richard (Judy Gilbertson) Beckett, Moorhead, MN; Everett (Shirley) Beckett, Glyndon, MN; Leonard “Charlie” (Nancy) Beckett, Indian Harbor Beach, Fl; and two sisters-in-law, Clare Beckett, Moorhead, MN and Phyllis Beckett, Hawley, MN and several nieces and nephews.





She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William and her grandson, Louis David West.
