Mary Chezik

May 5, 1922 — January 9, 2011

Mary was born May 5, 1922, near Abercrombie, ND, the daughter of August and Barbara (Wildfleuer) Janu. She graduated from High School at Abercrombie and worked at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Chezik on May 18, 1943, at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. The couple lived and farmed near Wahpeton, where Mary worked for Veda's Steak House, Breckenridge, MN, and the Elks and JC Penney of Wahpeton after her children had grown. They moved to North St. Paul, MN in 1963; after retiring the couple moved back to Wahpeton in 2000. Robert passed away August 10, 2004, and Mary returned to St. Paul to be near family.

Mary was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening, especially her roses. She learned the craft of ceramics-china painting from Dolores Berg which Mary became accomplished at.

Mary is survived by her eight children: Roger (Marcy) Chezik, Vancouver, WA; Rodney (Roberta) Chezik, Denver, CO; Sharon Chezik, St. Paul, MN; Gerald (Ginger) Chezik, Loretto, MN; Cathy (Fred) Hemquist, Alexandria, MN; Robert (Jill) Chezik, Afton, MN; Patricia (Jim) Gaumitz, Hudson, WI; Steven (Terri) Chezik; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Anne Kline, Breckenridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and eight brothers and sisters.
