Mary Gette, 68, Wahpeton, ND died Thursday May 10, 2012 at Sanford Palliative care, Fargo ND. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 14 followed by a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at St. John's Catholic Church. Visitation will also be one hour before the services on Tuesday at the church. Catholic Daughters Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Arrangements are with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Mary was born on June 4, 1943 the daughter of Gordon and Floriene (Schneider) Miller in Langdon, ND. She lived in Wales, ND where she attended grade school and high school graduating in 1961. She attended Lake Region State College, North Dakota State University and Dakota Business College. On June 20, 1964 she was united in marriage to Robert Gette at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wales, ND. The couple moved to Wahpeton shortly after marriage. They have two children, son David (Sarah) of Somers, NY., and their three children, Olivia (7) and twins Andrew and Zachary (4): and daughter, Michelle (Greg) Davis of Savage, MN., and their daughters Norah (7) and Sophia (5).
Mary was active in Women's Literary Club, Friends of the Library and Catholic Daughters. She served as a food pantry, church office and nursing home volunteer. She worked at Community First National Bank for 25 years, retiring in 2002.
She enjoyed reading, theater, watching sports, cooking, baking, traveling and especially loved visiting her children and grandchildren. She always kept in close contact with her aunts, uncles and cousins and treasured these relationships. She enjoyed the friendship of many people young and old.
Mary is survived by her husband Robert, her son David (Sarah), her daughter Michelle (Greg) and five grandchildren Olivia Gette, Andrew Gette, Zachary Gette, Norah Davis and Sophia Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Floriene Miller and an infant son, Corey.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers, you may send memorials to St. John's School in Wahpeton or the North Dakota State College of Science Alumni Foundation, Wahpeton.
