Mick Schuler

Michael "Mick" Schuler, 58, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at his home under the care of Riveredge Hospice. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 10, 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Jim Gustafson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Bethel Lutheran Church and one hour before the service at the church Wednesday. Interment will be at Vukku Cemetery, Foxhome, MN. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Michael J. Edward Schuler, "Mick" was born February 5, 1954 at Fairmount, MN, the son of Fredric and Maxine (DeBus) Schuler. He grew up in Campbell, MN where he graduated from Campbell High School in 1972. He attended NDSCS and later received his Bachelor Degree from Valley City State College. He was united in marriage to Darlene Etten on May 3, 1975 at Foxhome Lutheran Church, Foxhome, MN. The couple lived in Chanhassen MN, where he worked for Data 100 in Minneapolis before returning to this area where he lived in Wahpeton. He worked for a number of years for Sturdevant's Auto Parts in Wahpeton, ND. He later operated his own business, "MS Software" and started teaching at NDSCS in Information Technology. He continued teaching at NDSCS until January of 2012 when retired due to poor health.

Mick was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, a past member of Wahpeton School Board, board member for Head of the Red, NDSCS Faculty Senate and was awarded the "2006 Teacher of the Year". Mick enjoyed time spent with his family, including a snowmobiling trip to West Yellowstone and many days spent at Jewett Lake, MN.. He followed his children in their activities and also became active in their endeavors, helping coach 5th and 6th Grade Football and youth hockey. He will be remembered by many for his many stories, sense of humor and ability to make others smile.

Mick is survived by his wife Darlene, Wahpeton; three sons: Chad Schuler, Elk River, MN; Nate (Heather) Schuler, Grand Forks, ND; Eric Schuler, Minot, ND; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Avin, and Mason Schuler; his parents, Fritz and Maxine Schuler, Wahpeton; brothers, Gary (Pam ) Schuler, Moorhead, MN; and Gregg (Judy) Schuler, Fargo, ND.

.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his brother, Marc and his sister Tonya.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
