Myrtle Vondal

Myrtle “Myrt” Vondal, 91, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Wahpeton, ND, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home, Breckenridge , MN , with her family at her side. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 20 at Evergreen United Methodist Church , Wahpeton with Rev. Paul Baker officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton; also, visitation will be Tuesday one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery , Wahpeton.

Myrtle was the daughter of Harold and Beulah (Kintz) Scott born February 17, 1918 in Walhalla, ND. She grew up and graduated from Walhalla High School and taught in a country school by Walhalla. On October 24, 1940 she married Leo Vondal in Walhalla. After Leo returned from the service in WWII they moved to Wahpeton, ND where Leo co-owned Wahpeton Electric. Myrtle was busy homemaker raising six children. She later attended


business courses and started employment at NDSCS Library, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Leo passed away November 27, 1978; Myrtle continued to live in Wahpeton. .She later entered the Pioneer Senior Cottages in Fergus Falls , MN in July of 2004, and in June of 2006, she moved to  the Senior Cottages in Breckenridge , MN .

Myrt and Leo owned a lake home at Ottertail Lake , MN for many years and she loved the time they spent there with family and friends. She had a group of dear friends she socialized and traveled with. She also did service and volunteer work for the VFW Auxilary, Elkettes and St. Francis Hospital. She was a strong energetic giving person and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Myrt is survived by her 2 sons and 4 daughters, Karen (Earl) Langendorfer, Casper, WY, Carris (Michelle) Vondal, Chantilly, VA, Vicki (Mark) Williams, Casper WY, Dawn (Joseph Graf) Anderson, Minneapolis, MN; Paula (Brad) Bakken, Wahpeton; Kevin (Barb) Vondal, Wahpeton, ND; her sister, Bernice (Harold) Kurtz, West Fargo, ND; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; an infant, son; brothers, Paul and Don; and her sister, Viola.
