Norbert Klein, 65, Wahpeton, ND, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Meritcare South Campus, Palliative Care, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice. He fought a 9 year battle with colo-rectal cancer. A memorial service will be Saturday, 2:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Gary Mikkelson officiating. There will be visitation with Norbert?s family one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, in the spring. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton is in charge of arrangements.



Norbert Klein was born September 16, 1942, at Minot, ND, the son of Pius J. and Helen (Merck) Klein, Jr. Norbert was raised at Karlsruhe, ND, where he attended school; he also attended North Dakota State College of Science. Norbert was united in marriage to JoAnn Jacobson on January 23, 1965 and resided in Wahpeton. Norbert was a laborer and labor foreman for a variety of construction companies in the Midwest, retiring in 1999.



He will be remembered for his vegetable gardens, love of cars and his unique way of expressing his opinions. He cherished his time with his son and brothers while hunting and fishing.



Norbert is survived by his wife of 43 years, JoAnn Klein, Wahpeton; his mother, Helen Klein, Minot, ND; two daughters and a son: Teresa (Michael) Koppang, Prior Lake, MN; Timothy (Michelle Henriksen) Klein, Minneapolis, MN : and Kristen (Michael) Kjar, Maplewood, MN; grandchildren: Kimberly Koppang, Katie Koppang, Emily Kjar, Tyler Klein, Andrew Kjar, Jordan Klein, and Kyle Koppang; five brothers: Dairl (Pat) Klein, Karlsruhe; Wilfred (Maryanne) Klein, Minot; Ronald (Gloria) Klein, Karlsruhe; Peter Klein, Karlsruhe; James (Deanna) Klein, Minot; three sisters: Julie (Jerry) Sorenson, Minot; Lucy (John) Rosatti, Bottineau, ND; Helen (Robert) Whysong, Tennessee; also survived by many nieces, nephews and great friends.



He was preceded in death by his father, and a grandson, Reed William Kjar.
