Palmer Tverdahl

Palmer Tverdahl, 96, Fergus Falls, MN, formerly of Abercrombie, ND passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 12, at 11:00 AM at Bethany Free Lutheran Church, Galchutt, ND with Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Galchutt. Arrangements are entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Palmer was born on June 25, 1917 to Rasmus and Marie (Sakvik) Tverdahl in Abercrombie, ND. He grew up and attended school in rural Abercrombie and graduated from high school in Abercrombie. He worked and lived on the family farm southwest of Abercrombie for most of his life. He became a resident of PioneerCare in Fergus Falls in 2010.

Palmer was baptized and confirmed as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rural Abercrombie. He dedicated much of his time to that church until it officially closed. Even after it closed he took care of the records for the cemetery and every Christmas Eve he made sure to ring the bells of St. John's. He was also very active in Bethany Free Lutheran Church where he was the longtime custodian and also taught Sunday School. Palmer was also a member of Gideons International.

Palmer is survived by his sisters, Norma Otterson, Fargo, ND, formerly of Kindred, ND and Thelma Burington, Flagstaff, AZ, formerly of Prescott, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Pauline Myers, Grace Fagervik, Ruth Gylland; his nephews, Jerome Gylland, Glen Myers; his brothers-in-law, Ismahl "Clark" Myers, Jacob Fagervik, Oscar Gylland, Arnold Otterson, Rex Burington.
