Quentin Boyer

Quentin L. Boyer, 93, Barney, N.D., died January 29, 2014 at Bethany Homes in Fargo, N.D.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., with the funeral at 2 p.m., Saturday at Valley Christian Church in Breckenridge, Minn. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton, N.D. Arrangements by Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton.

Quentin was born February 7, 1920 in rural Walcott, North Dakota to Andrew Jay and Minnie (Northway) Boyer. He attended country school near Walcott.
Quentin and Emeth Anderson were united in marriage on October 4, 1942 in Moorhead, Minnesota. They moved to Sand Point, Idaho where Quentin worked for Farragut Naval Training Station at Bayview, Idaho near Sand Point. He entered the U.S. Army on March 23, 1943 at Salt Lake City, Utah and received training in the artillery division at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was stationed at Fort Warden and Fort Casey near Port Townsend, Washington.
After his discharge on February 8, 1946, he worked as a crane operator for Crown Zellerbach Paper Company near Port Townsend for several years. He and Emeth returned to North Dakota in 1951 where he farmed and raised Holstein cattle.
He served as council president and superintendent of Sunday school of Grace Lutheran Church, rural Wyndmere, N.D., for many years. Quentin served on the Garborg Township board and Barney Fire Department as well as the Wyndmere School Board during the building of the "new" school in the 1960s. He was very active in The Gideons International for many, many years.
Quentin is survived by his wife, Emeth; children Annette (the late Robert) Kuchera and Gregg Boyer; grandchildren Kate (Paul) Mund, John (Bridgette) Kuchera, Andrea (Jamie) Haugen, Suzanna (Tim) Heitkamp, Erica Boyer, Aaron Boyer, Wade Boyer, Teddy Boyer, and Thadd Boyer; great-grandchildren Robert and Luke Mund; Jolene, Jessica, and Jake Kuchera; Lauren, Madelyn, and Andrew Haugen; Evelyn Heitkamp; and Aurora Boyer; brothers Darrel (Odelia), Delton (Ardella), Gordon, Harlan (Elaine); sisters Clarice Skjonsby and Geri (Dennis) Feik.
Quentin was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Robert Kuchera, sisters Helen Jorgenson, Dorothea Walberg, Orlie Erickson, Marjorie Bolstad, Eleanor Iverson, and Delores Kummer, brothers William and Kenneth, an infant sister, Margaret, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Gideons International, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Anne Carlsen Center.
