Richard Wolf, 82, Fargo, ND formerly of Wahpeton, ND died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 11 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton; also, visitation one hour prior to time of service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery , Wahpeton. Military Honors will be conducted by “Members of the ND Military Funeral Honors”, and Hafner-Miller-Rose American Legion Post No. 20 and Woody Keeble VFW Post No. 4324, Wahpeton.





Richard William Wolf was born December 14, 1926, in Fargo to George and Frances (Mayer) Wolf. He attended Wahpeton High School and graduated in 1944. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He served with the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 and was deployed to Japan until 1947. On Aug. 8, 1950, Richard was united in marriage to Caroline M. Mauer at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Hankinson , ND . During their first year of marriage, Richard and Carrie moved to Ft. Rucker , AL.; until Richard was deployed to Korea . After returning from Korea , Richard and Caroline made their home in Wahpeton where they raised their family. CWO4 Richard Wolf was employed fulltime with the ND National Guard in Wahpeton with the 142 nd Eng BN Hv as an AST until his retirement 1986.





He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the American Legion, the VFW, the Eagles and the Knight’s of Columbus . He was a volunteer Fireman until moving outside of Wahpeton. Richard’s passion was serving his country in the military. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for his four acres outside of Wahpeton. He truly loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loving family.





Richard is survived by his four children, Richard (Chris) Wolf, Centerville, UT, Mary (Tom) Helland, Wahpeton, James Wolf, Fargo, Steven (Shelly) Wolf, Mooreton, ND; 11 grandchildren, Pieper (Brian) Waitzel, Manasquan, NJ, Jeremy and Samantha Helland, Wahpeton, Emily (Justin) Riveland, Fargo, Andy Molbert, Jason, Amy, Allie and Jennifer Wolf, Fargo, Caitlyn and Apryl Wolf, Mooreton; 2 great-grandchildren, Madyson Riveland, Fargo, Benjamin Waitzel, Manasquan, NJ; a brother Robert Wolf, Wahpeton; a brother-in-law Jerome Mauer, Wahpeton; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.





Richard was preceded in death by: his wife Carrie; his parents; a grandson, Casey Helland; his brother, George Wolf; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Rosemary Wolf and his mother and father-in-law, Pete and Marie Mauer.
