Rose Woytassek

Rose Woytassek, 92, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, April 1, at 1:30 PM at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Musnon Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Rose was born on December 25, 1922 in rural Cayuga, ND to Anton and Catherine (Schreiner) Zupon. She grew up and attended school in Cayuga and after her schooling she worked on the family farm.

Rose was united in marriage to Henry E. Woytassek in Chicago, IL. In 1944, they moved back to Geneseo, ND where they raised their children. In 1954, the family moved to Wahpeton, ND where Rose began working at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge in various aide positions. In the mid 1990's Rose moved to Dwight, ND with her son Denis. Rose retired from St. Francis in 2004 and became a resident of St. Catherine's Living Center in 2007.

Rose always kept a garden and worked hard to can her produce and share with others. She enjoyed cooking, bingo, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She especially liked playing cards or dice games with as few as one person or a group of people.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Lucy (Nick) Thiel, Oregon City, OR, Carol (Craig) Thomas, Milwaukie, OR, Mary Beth (Larry Lee) Woytassek, Carson City, NV; sixteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Anna Koschney, Minneapolis, MN; son-in-law, Joel Lerbakken, Chandler, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry E. Woytassek Sr., her sons, Henry Jr., Denis, her daughter, Paulette Lerbakken, and a grandson, Robert Thiel.
