Russell Janssen

November 14, 1925 — February 7, 2012

Russell was born on November 14, 1925 in Titonka, IA to John and Amanda (Galmeyer) Janssen. He grew up near Barney, ND where he attended school. Russell was united in marriage to Beverly "Patsy" Lillestol at Homestead Lutheran Church on August 8, 1948. They lived in Barney where Russell farmed, later they move to Wyndmere. Patsy passed away November 27, 1999, and Russell continued to live in Wyndmere until he entered St. Francis Nursing Home in August of 2010.
He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Homestead Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Homestead Cemetery Association. He was presently a member of Wyndmere Lutheran Church.
Russell was well known as a Ham Radio operator and had many friends around the world. He also enjoyed restoring old tractors, baking and cooking many things, and traveling around the United States. Russell was a fixture in the Wyndmere/Barney communities and will be missed by all who knew him.
Russell is survived by several cousins, in-laws, and many friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Amanda Janssen, and his best friend and wife, Patsy.
