Ruth Claus

Ruth was born August 18, 1932 at Leonard, ND, the daughter of Olaf and Ragna (Solhjem) Breden. She received her formal education at Viking and Walcott area schools. On April 15, 1956 she married Glen Claus of rural Milnor, ND, at Zion Free Lutheran Church, rural Leonard. They lived in Milnor prior to moving to Wahpeton in 1979. She was employed at NDSCS for 19 years; she retired in 1998, and continued to live in Wahpeton.

She was an active member at Inspiration Lutheran Brethren Church and WMF. She valued her time spent with her grandchildren, at the lakes and fishing.

Ruth is survived by her husband Glen, Wahpeton; two sons and two daughters: Gary (JoAnn), West Fargo, ND; Terry (Lisa), Minnetrista, MN; Debbie (Mark) Goodman, Clearwater, MN: Gayle, Champlin, MN; eight grandchildren: Jennifer & Jonathon Claus, Abigail (Tom) Hanzlik, Kathryn, Megan, Courtney, Isaac and Julia Claus; two great-grandchildren: Devon and Logan Hanzlik; her brother, Olaf (Marcella ) Breden, Wyndmere, her two sisters-in-law, Amanda and Helen Breden, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Grace Claus, three brothers: Joe, Alvin and Obert Breden, her sister Alma Hegseth, and an infant sister Alma.
