Shirley Lund-Gulsvig

Shirley Lund-Gulsvig, 46, Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Honeyford, ND passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 12, at 11:00 AM at Faith Church, Wahpeton, with Pastor Mike Adams officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Havana Cemetery, Havana, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Shirley was born on November 22, 1965 in Grand Forks, ND to Dean and Judith (Finney) Lund. She grew up in Honeyford, ND and went to Midway Public School where she graduated in 1984. She attended Northland College in East Grand Forks, MN where she received her Medical Lab Technician Associates Degree. She worked at Hardee's in Grand Forks, ND. She would later move to Fargo, ND where she worked for Dakota Clinic as a lab tech and also in a group home.
In 1997, she met Paul Gulsvig and they were united in marriage on September 25, 1999 at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Forks. After their marriage they moved to Wahpeton where she worked for Red River Human Services as a direct care worker. When Walmart opened in Wahpeton she began to work there until her health kept her from working.
Shirley enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, singing and listening to music. She was a great aunt, and also was the family member who could keep track of all the dates and sent cards for events on a regular basis. She will be missed deeply by her entire family.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Paul Gulsvig, Wahpeton, ND; her mother, Judith Lizakowski, Wahpeton; her brother, Dwight (Jennifer) Lund, Manhattan, KS and their children, Taylor and Alexander; her mother-in-law, Doris Gulsvig, Havana, ND; her brothers-in-law, Gary Gulsvig, Havana, Lynn (Carol) Gulsvig, Oakes, ND, Dale (Mary) Gulsvig, West Fargo, ND, Alan (Chris) Gulsvig, Devil's Lake, ND; her sister-in-law, Nancy Steckler, Jamestown, ND; her aunts, uncles, and their families, many nieces and nephews; and her step-grandfather, Ernest Kangas, Lakota, ND.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dean Lund.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Riveredge Hospice, Breckenridge, MN or Lake Region Cancer Center in Fergus Falls, MN.
