Walter Wolfgram

Walter Wolfgram, 90, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. The Funeral Service will be 1100 a.m., Saturday, May 22, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, with Rev. Alan Werth officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens , Wahpeton. Arrangements are pending with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.





Walter was born February 8, 1920 at Raleigh , ND , the son of Charles and Myrtle “Carrie” (Welch) Wolfgram. He grew up and attended school near Raleigh and helped on the farm. He served in the US Army at the rank of Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre at Guadalcanal, Luzon, and the Philippines . He married Shirley Brigham on June 9, 1946 at First Lutheran Church , Mandan , ND . The couple moved to Wahpeton, ND, where Walter attended NDSCS in printing. He worked for the Daily News in Wahpeton for over 35 years. His wife Shirley passed away August 11, 2005, Walter has resided at St. Catherine’s Living Center , Wahpeton since December of 2004. At St. Catherine’s he kept active in current events and would share his faith with others and read his devotions daily.





Walter was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church , Wahpeton, where he was baptized and confirmed. While health would allow he enjoyed playing golf.





Walter is survived by three children: Larry (Barbara) Wolfgram , Antioch, IL; Dale (Barbara) Wolfgram, Rocky River, OH; Diane (Mike) Morrell, Snohomish, WA; 12 grandchildren: Jennifer Wolfgram, Tom Wolfgram, Michael Wolfgram, Shelley Puma, Joshua Wolfgram, Andrew Bruns, Jeffrey Bruns, Ryan Morrell, Jeremy Morrell, Amanda Morrell, Kaylie Morrell, and Taylor and great grandchildren.





Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley, his daughter, Gloria Bruns, his brothers, Melvin, Ernest, Everett, and his twin brother, Bill, his sisters, Mabel, Hazel, Clara, and Ethel.
