Don was born on August 2, 1941 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Lars and Marion Seerup. He attended public schools K–12 and graduated from Mandan Senior High in 1959. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force. During his 4-year time in the service he served his country in the Philippines and Utah. After his honorable discharge, he helped his father by working at the bar that he owned in Mandan, ND. After working for his father for a while, Don decided to move to Cleveland, OH, on a tip from his brother, Raymond, on a job opportunity at TRW industries. He accepted a job as the operations manager for their computer department. While working there, he attended one of their annual picnics, and that’s where he met Alice (Dollie) Early. After a few dates they were married on November 30, 1968. While living in Cleveland in August of 1970, they gave birth to their son, Donald R. Seerup. In 1972 they moved to Bismarck, ND, due to Don being transferred for work. Don was once again transferred to Wahpeton in 1980, where they had their 2nd child together, Alyson Marie Seerup, on October 31, 1980. Don stayed in Wahpeton from then on. After a long stent at TRW he decided it was time for a change, so he took on a different role in sales. During his time in the Wahpeton area he mainly worked in the sales industry until retirement.
Don lived his life to the fullest, he loved his family, was a hard worker, and a dedicated husband. He also loved his animals. He had various dogs of several breeds throughout his life, and he loved cats as well. At one point in time, he and Dollie had four dogs and two cats and loved every one of them. Don was an avid motorcycle rider; he would often take his wife out on the bike for trips out to the MN lakes areas. He would also go on trips with his son Donnie and wife Margaret as much as possible. He loved the outdoors and went camping and fishing as much as possible. Don loved his technology. He made sure he was up to speed on the latest and greatest in electronics. He was a huge fan of classic cars and owned several throughout his life. Don also enjoyed traveling to see this great country that God created.
