Jeremy Jay Mashek, age 41 of Woodbury, MN passed away suddenly on April 16th, 2018. Jeremy was born in Breckenridge, MN on January 18th, 1977 to Allen and Peggy (Hager) Mashek. Jeremy was baptized at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent, MN and confirmed at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Elbow Lake, MN. Through the 4th grade, Jeremy attended Breckenridge Public Schools while living in Wolverton, MN. The family moved to Elbow Lake, MN in 1987, where he graduated from West Central Area High School in 1995. He attended North Dakota State College of Science, graduating in 1997.
Jeremy developed a strong work ethic at an early age; working as a car detailer for Elbow Lake Ford during high school, and Minn-Kota Ag Products in Breckenridge, MN during his college years. Jeremy moved on to manage the grain elevator in Wheatland, ND before settling into a career he took great pride in as a Locomotive Engineer for Canadian Pacific Railway based in St. Paul. He enjoyed his various routes to destinations including Glenwood, MN, Superior and LaCrosse, WI, and Enderlin, ND. He excelled at operating locomotives safely and efficiently.
Jeremy loved spending time at the family lake home on Clitherall Lake, where he enjoyed waterskiing and snowmobiling. Jeremy was a devoted son, brother, and proud uncle to 6 nieces and nephews, for whom he never forgot a birthday or special occasion. Jeremy was known by all to put the needs of others above and before those of his own, always looking for ways to lend a helping hand.
Jeremy is survived by his parents Al and Peggy Mashek of Battle Lake, MN, brothers Chris of Jamestown, ND, Nathan (Ashlee) and their children Avery, Kellen and Karson of Saint Michael, MN and Daniel (Chelsea) and their children Andrew, Isaac, and Lyla of Fergus Falls, MN, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Fayma Mashek and Donald and Irma Hager of Wyndmere, ND.
A visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Friday April 20, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake, MN, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake, MN. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery in Battle Lake, MN.
