Virginia Jost was born on August 12, 1916 in Breckenridge, MN, to Walter and Mabel (Harborn) Crawford. She grew up on the family farm west of Wahpeton, helping her parents deliver farm produce to customers in town during the early 1930’s. She graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1934 and from NDSSS in 1937 in the Business Program. Her first job was at Triple A, now known as Farm Service Agency.

They moved from a rented farmstead to their home in Wahpeton in 1956, at which time she began her career at the Richland County Treasurer’s Office as deputy, a job she held until her retirement in 1981. She continued living in her home until moving into an apartment in 2000, and then to Siena Court in January 2016, where she was lovingly cared for by a great staff.
