Wilma Mae Hauff

January 22, 1928 ~ January 17, 2018 (age 89)

Wilma Hauff, 89, of Wahpeton, ND went to her eternal home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton.  A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, with Rev. Jared Clausen officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

 

Wilma Mae Hauff was born on January 22, 1928 at Greene County, Iowa to Harold and Eleanor (Fisher) Phelps.  She attended grade school in Dana, Iowa and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. She attended Northwest Bible School in Lemon, South Dakota where she met her husband of 41 years, Eugene Paul Hauff of Golden Valley, North Dakota.  They were united in marriage on June 2, 1955.

 

Before her marriage to Eugene, Wilma worked for about 10 years at the Rosemeade Factory in Wahpeton as a secretary.  After her marriage to Eugene they lived in a number of communities.  In 1962, they moved to Westhope, North Dakota where they lived until Eugene’s retirement in 1993.  They then moved to Wahpeton in 1994 and Wilma entered St. Catherine’s Living Center in 2008.  Wilma always enjoyed her family and was an avid reader.

 

She is lovingly survived by two daughters; Johanna “Beth” (Barry) Green, Wahpeton, ND and Gretchen (Jim) Mjelde, Fergus Falls, MN; one granddaughter, Karen Goodwin, Fergus Falls, MN; three grandsons, Paul (Katie) Green, Fargo, ND, James (Noelle) Green, Wahpeton and Joel Green, Wahpeton; 4 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Hanna Green and Molly and Henry Green; five sisters, Bonnie May, Adams, MN, Mary Ann Balducci, Lafayette, CA, Mildred Skalla, Scranton, Iowa, Dorothy Stanford, Manchester, Iowa and Ada Utterson, Ankeny, Iowa; her brother Rev. Charles Phelps, Anoka, MN; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mary Lee and Ed Kistner, Fargo.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene Paul Hauff who died in 1996, two infant grandchildren, Phillip and David Goodwin.
