Adelaide Wodarz

Ad elaide Wodarz, 91, of Wyndmere, ND, passed away on Monday, November 5th, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wyndmere, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be following the service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin–Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Adelaide Joan Wodarz was born on June 2, 1927 in Lidgerwood, ND to Russell and Alice (Pierce) Wodarz.  She grew up in Wyndmere and graduated from Wyndmere High School.  After school, Adelaide was employed at the Johnson’s Store until she retired in 1985.  She especially enjoyed helping younger children pick out a Mother’s Day gift, and she would even record every gift they ever picked out.  Adelaide lived on the family farm with her sister, Pat, and brother, Gerard, for her entire life.

Adelaide enjoyed the Halloween season.  She would work tirelessly preparing and wrapping cups of candy for all the trick-or-treaters that would stop by her place, even offering their parents a cup as well.  She loved the apple orchard and looked forward to making homemade apple sauce and ice cream to share with her neighbors.  Adelaide journaled every day; she would even be able to tell you who saw the first Robin in their yard that year.  She was also a member of the Danton Homemakers and loved creating the games to be shared at their meetings.

Adelaide had a special place in the hearts of many people.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Alice; her brothers, Jerome and Gerard Wodarz; her sister, Patricia Wodarz; and her aunt, Bessie Pierce.
