Alfred "Al" Edward Odden, 73, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away on April 11, 2026, in Valley City, North Dakota. He was born on September 13, 1952, to Deloris and Alfred Odden in Chokio, Minnesota. A time to gather and honor Al will take place Saturday, May 2, 2026, beginning at 1 PM at Wahpeton High School, 1021 11th St N, Wahpeton, ND.
He attended a few colleges and universities throughout his life, with the pride of his education being a Bachelor of Science in Education from Moorhead State University of Minnesota, class of 2011. While attending MSUM, he was crowned Homecoming King in 2009, president of Campus Geology club, Education seat on Student Senate, Chair of Campus Affairs Committee, billiards instructor, and worked on Campus Entertainment Group. From there, he went on to teach full-time at Wahpeton Middle School in the 8th grade science room as well as a very lustrous substitute role for the Wahpeton School District for many years. He loved every minute he spent around students!
To Alfred, shooting pool was life. He had qualified for the national tournament in Las Vegas in the 80's. He was part of many leagues and tournaments, winning many championships and awards. During the mid part of his life, Alfred trained in long distance running and completed many races. While attending MSUM, he discovered his passion for performing onstage or in front of a camera. He has a list of 14 appearances in student and independent films on his IMDb. He was the life of any party and could talk to a complete stranger for an hour while making them feel completely comfortable.
Alfred is survived by his children, Cytina, Harmony, Jessica, Christopher, and David. Siblings Linda, Lois, Irvin, Joe, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gerald, Rosie, Richard, and Jeanie.
