Alice Myhra

February 12, 1932 — September 28, 2015

Alice L. Myhra, 83, Moorhead, MN, formerly Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Alice Lorraine Holm was born February 12, 1932 in Crosby, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Ida (Larsen) Holm. She lived on her parents' farm until age 15 and attended Troy School and Peace Lutheran Church. She played the trumpet and piano. The family moved to town where Alice graduated from Divide County High School. She was united in marriage to Burnell "Barney" Myhra in 1951. When Barney returned from the US Army, the couple lived in Williston, Crosby and Minot before moving to Wahpeton in 1962 where they raised their seven children. Alice worked at NDSCS and Krause Motors in Wahpeton, then worked in the business office at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge for many years until her retirement. Barney passed away June 24, 2003. Alice continued to reside in Wahpeton until moving to Moorhead in 2010. Alice was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she volunteered and was involved in church circle. She also volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis Home after retirement. With all these activities, family remained her most important priority and many hours were spent eating, laughing and reminiscing in the Myhra home.

During the last five years of her life, Alice was afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. The struggles of this didn't break her spirit as she continued to smile and laugh and nurture the others in her "family" at Riverpointe. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Alice during this time, and special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Sanford Hospital and Sanford Palliative Care for calmly and compassionately helping us through this transition.

Alice will be fondly remembered and missed by her seven children: Lynn (Doug) Goodwill, Devils Lake, ND; Monte (Shannon) Myhra, East Bethel, MN; Wayne (Barb) Myhra, Wahpeton; Karen (Jim) Lee, Port Orchard, WA; Kay (Kevin) Berger, Wahpeton; Lecia (Terry) Salquist, West Fargo, ND; Jana (Rick) Judisch, Moorhead, MN; 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters: Arthur "Bud" Holm, Crosby, ND; Irene Sand, Roseau, MN; Lucille "Babe" Owings, Carlisle, KY; George (Lavon) Holm, Columbus, ND; and Carol Schwenson (Donald Hoge), Bismarck, ND; sisters-in-law Iown Olson, Shirley Fleck, Jane Benter, all Crosby; Faye (Warren) Smith, Bay City, MI; Marge Myhra, Billings, MT, brother-in-law Tom Myhra, Sartell, MN; dear friends Bonnie and Lloyd Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ida; her husband Barney; and her sisters Helen Earnest and Mary Dykes.
