Allan Ehlers, 85, Breckenridge , MN , formerly of Barney , ND , died, after a short illness, Monday, October 12, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Hospital, Breckenridge. Celebration of Allan’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Manning officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday at Willow Creek Chapel (920 3 rd Ave North), Wahpeton from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.; also, a gathering of family and friend at the church on Monday one hour prior to time of service at the church. Inurnment will be held at Homestead Cemetery , rural Wyndmere , ND .





Allan Herman Ehlers was born April 22, 1924, at Barney to William and Mabel (Egeberg) Ehlers. He received his formal education at Antelope School , rural Barney. Allan spent most of his time farming and doing custom combining. During the winter months he worked at Gutzmer’s Construction. On July 8, 1971, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Dohman (Dighton) at Breckenridge Lutheran Church . The couple made their home at Barney where they farmed. In 2006 they moved into York Manor, Breckenridge.





Allan will always be remembered for his kind heart. He enjoyed collecting old farm machinery, license plates, pens and pencils. Allan will also be remembered for his many hours of story telling and jokes.





He will be sadly missed by his survivors, his wife, Marjorie, Breckenridge; his four-step-children, Michael (Pam) Dohman, Breckenridge, MN, Cathy (Jerald) Nordick, Breckenridge,, Cindy (Joseph) Braun, Mooreton, ND, Mark (Mary) Dohman, Watertown, SD; his sister, Myrna Muehlberg, Barney, and her children, Ward (Kelly) Muehlberg, Battle Ground, WA, Carrie (Paul) Kwiatkowski, and their daughter, Alexander, St. Louis, MO, Ryan Muehlberg, Wahpeton, ND; 2 nieces; 3 nephews; 7 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.





Allan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arlin; his sister-in-law, Marie; his nephew; and his step-great-grandson, Isaiah.
