Betty Osborn

November 11, 1932 — January 16, 2019

Betty Mae Osborn, 86, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at CHI St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by her memorial service at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Breckenridge, with Rev. Mark Gronseth officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.  Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Betty Mae Streeter was born November 11, 1932 to Raymond and Irene (Tennu) Streeter in Wheaton, MN.  Betty and her siblings were raised by foster parents, Herb and Elsie Fibranz in Wheaton.  She went to country school for 8 years before graduating from Wheaton High School in May of 1950.  She said, “It was a fun four years and I had lots of good friends.”

Betty was united in marriage to Wayne Osborn on December 10, 1950 at Bethany United Methodist Church in LaMars Township, Fairmount, ND.  They farmed in LaMars Township before moving to Wahpeton, ND, where they raised their six children.

Betty worked many jobs in the twin towns, including St. Francis Hospital, Wahpeton Rehab, The Leach Home and 3M.  Betty and Wayne spent many summers at Swan Lake Resort, fishing and sitting around the campfire with family and the Swan Lake Community.  Betty also loved caring for her family and grandchildren.

In May 2016, Betty moved into St. Francis Nursing Home.  She was always on the go, pushing her wheelchair up and down the hallways, looking for a bit of mischief.  Betty was also fond of the latest diet craze, “The Candy Cane Diet.”

She was a member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church.  Betty will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff at CHI St. Francis Home for the loving care they gave Betty over the past years, and in her final days.

Betty is survived by her children, Sharyl Buse, Watertown, SD, Kevin (Barb) Osborn, Little Canada, MN, Brent Osborn (Barb Kurtz), Wahpeton, ND, Brenda (Mike) Sanders, Fargo, ND, and Jody (Shawn) Dawson, Detroit Lakes, MN; brother, Charles Streeter, Mesa, AZ; sisters-in-law, Arlene Brovald, Mukilteo, WA and Alice Streeter, Hibbing, MN; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
