Brent Tracy

Brent C. Tracy, 60, Fairmount, ND, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family after a brief but courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10:30 am, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fairmount. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 6 PM Prayer Vigil at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Brent Charles Tracy was born July 4, 1954 at Breckenridge, MN, the son of Norris and Lois (Wittman) Tracy. He grew up in Fairmount, where he graduated from high school in 1972. He completed the GAF Floor Covering Installer's Course in Chicago, IL and worked for various floorcovering contractors for several years before becoming an independent contractor. Brent was united in marriage to Charlotte Swiontek on April 21, 1979 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairmount where they also made their home. To this union two children were born, a daughter Kyla and a son Wyatt. Shortly after their marriage, Brent began working with his dad and brothers in the family business, Tracy Construction. He went on to become a managing partner and continued there until his death.

Brent was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and always had a special place in his heart for his beloved hunting dogs. He was actively involved in the Midwest North Chapter of VDD-GNA and spent many hours training and participating in field trials with his Deutsch Drahthaars. His hobbies included cooking, smoking meat and cheese, gardening, picking asparagus, reading, listening to music, movies, auto body work, watching horse racing and boxing, a good challenge, and anything with a motor. Brent's other passions included keeping youth hunting alive and spending time with family, friends, the elderly, and children of all ages.

Brent is survived by his wife Char, Fairmount; two children: Kyla (Jared) Schultz, Minto, ND; and Wyatt Tracy, Fairmount; six brothers and sisters: Kraig (Becky) Tracy, Fairmount; Joel (Mike) Barnes, Excelsior, MN; Kern (Deb) Tracy, Fairmount; Celene (Rick) Gunderson, Loretto, MN; Norlene (John) Bleskacek, Wrenshall, MN; Warren (Shelly) Tracy, Roberts, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father and mother, Norris and Lois.
