Bruce A Opoien

Bruce A. Opoien peacefully passed away surrounded by his son, Chris and brother, Rick on March 21, 2026, in Wahpeton, ND, after a battle with Primary Progressive MS. Bruce was born on June 20, 1951, in Devils Lake, ND, to Allan and Ruth Opoien,

Bruce lived a life marked by commitment to his country, his profession, and his family. Bruce’s journey was shaped by his service in the United States Air Force from 1970-1976 during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, Bruce pursued an electronics degree at NDSCS, Wahpeton, giving him the skills that would define his professional career.

For 38 years, Bruce contributed his expertise as an Electronic Controls Technician in ND sugar mills and as a Maintenance Planner in power plants. His dedication to safety, precision, and reliability made him an invaluable part of the team. Beyond his professional achievements, Bruce was a proud son, father and brother. He is survived by his son, Chris Opoien, grandchildren Shelby and Cody, his brothers, Rick Opoien (Vonnie) and Jay Opoien (Renae), former wife Nancy (mother of Chris), former wife Teresa & her daughter Tiffany, numerous niece & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jon (Barbara), Lee, and numerous other relatives.

He will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. A family Remembrance will be held at a later date.
