Carlos Garcia

Carlos Garcia, 81, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 2:00 P.M., at the Breckenridge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. There will be visitation one hour before the service. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Carlos E. Garcia Jr., was born July 12, 1933 in San Francisco, CA, the son of Carlos and Virginia (Hopkirk) Garcia. He grew up in San Francisco and attended school. He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea, Vietnam and was stationed in Germany, New Jersey, California, Washington State and Alaska. He married Ruth Riegler on July 21, 1956 in Mannheim, Germany. After retiring from the Army in 1973, the family lived in Alaska until moving to Rugby, ND; in 1985 they moved to Devils Lake and to Wahpeton in 1997. Carlos entered St. Catherine's Living Center in September of 2014.

Carlos enjoyed playing chess, fishing and camping. He spent many hours studying his bible.

Carlos is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth, Wahpeton; two sons, Kelly Garcia, Wahpeton and Stephen (Bobbi Jo) Garcia, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren:
Angela Osborn, Carmen Osborn, Trevor, Stephen, Samantha, Austin, Alyssa, and Brenden Garcia; four great-grandchildren: Jacen, Richie and Nate Osborn and Nycki Garcia; two sisters: Rose Melcher, Costa Mesa, CA, and Dorothy Lara, Sacramento, CA.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Terence Garcia; two daughters, Patricia Roberts and Susan Agnes; and a sister, Anita Patuya.
