Charlotte was born on June 11, 1930, in Lemmon, SD to Charles and Minnie (Ogren) Kinslow. She was raised on the family farm in Swede Township, ND and graduated from Kulm High School in 1948. Following graduation, she moved to Fargo where she attended New York Hair Academy and received her cosmetology license. She later moved to Wahpeton and began working at Wahpeton Beauty Salon.

On September 18, 1952, Charlotte married Merrill Lee “M.L.” Sims in Breckenridge, MN. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and community.

Charlotte was a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling for many years for MaryAnn’s Driftwood Lounge. She was a talented seamstress who found joy in creating with her hands. She quilted and crocheted countless lap robes, many of which she donated to local nursing homes to bring comfort to others.

Charlotte gave generously of her time and heart through more than 20 years of volunteer service with the Richland-Wilkin Food Pantry. She was always willing to help others and quietly made a lasting difference in her community.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Karla (Dick) Dickerson of Wahpeton; grandsons, Jake (Vanessa) Dykema of West Fargo, ND; Tyler (Annie) Dykema of St. Joseph, MN; great-grandchildren Colton, Callie, and Claire Dykema of West Fargo, ND; brother, Dennis Kinslow of Sturgis, SD; numerous nieces & nephews; and special friend, Nancy Allen of Breckenridge, MN

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merrill Lee “M.L.” Sims; her sisters, Joyce Gahner, Yvonne Hildebrand, and Joan Mogck; and her brother, Skip Kinslow.

Charlotte will be remembered for her caring heart, hardworking spirit, creativity, and generosity. Whether through her sewing, quilting, crocheting, volunteering, or simply the kindness she shared with others, she touched many lives. Her love is stitched into the fabric of her family and community, and her memory will be cherished always.
