Curt Skoog

October 20, 1971 — March 20, 2015

Curtis R. Skoog, 43, Wahpeton, North Dakota passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer, Friday, March 20, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski officiating. There will be viewing and visitation with the family from 10 am until the time of service on Wednesday. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Curt was born October 20, 1971, in Vancouver, WA, the son of Gerald and Sandra (Kelley) Skoog. He grew up and attended schools in Towner, ND, where he graduated from High School in 1991. He joined the National Guard and enrolled in Diesel Technology at NDSCS in Wahpeton. He married Susan Foster on July 17, 1993 in Rugby, ND. The couple lived in Fargo, ND, where their first child was born; moving to Wahpeton in 1996. For the last several years, he has been employed with Waste Management; enjoying his truck route and the interaction with his customers.

Curt enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, especially deer hunting and ice fishing with friends and his son, Matt. He will be remembered by his family and close friends for his dry sense of humor which would often calm a tense situation and on occasion stir things up a little. He loved his family, he was proud of his oldest daughter who is now serving in the US Army, enjoyed teaching his son about the outdoors and of course, the baby of the family who kept things lively.

Curt is survived by his loving wife, Sue, Wahpeton; two daughters and a son: Brittany (Cameron) Kramer, Fort Riley, KS; Matthew (17), Wahpeton; Jailyn (9) Wahpeton; a brother, Rusty (Tracy) Skoog, Surrey, ND; a sister, Misti (Matt Wentz) Skoog, Devils Lake, ND; his sister-in-law, Toni (Robb), McClellan, Alexandria, MN; and uncle to six nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, uncle and his brother-in-law, Tom Foster.
