Darleen Doberstein

April 2, 1930 — November 14, 2015

Darleen Doberstein, 85, of Wahpeton, ND passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Valley Christian Church, Breckenridge, with Reverend Dean Bjorlin officiating. Burial will be at Moore Cemetery, rural Wahpeton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Darleen Schoenecker was born April 2, 1930 to William and Emma (Sorkness) Schoenecker at Minot, ND. At the age of 13, her family moved to Wahpeton. She attended Wahpeton High School, and later studied liberal arts at North Dakota State College of Science. In 1950 she married Wayne Winter, to this union six children were born.
In 1971, Darleen married Warren Doberstein. The two made their home in Wahpeton. Darleen worked at the Red River Valley Clinic for 13 years and later, worked at Wahpeton Auto Parts until her retirement. Warren passed away in 2002, and Darleen continued to live in her home until the time of her death.
Darleen enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her family. She loved visiting the Badlands and Black Hills where she would go horseback riding. She also loved helping all of her children and grandchildren with painting, remodeling, and building projects. In addition to her many activities, she was also active in the Valley Christian Church.
Darleen is survived by her eight children as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; her sister, Gloria Hooge; her daughter, Pamela (Quamme) Doberstein; and her grandson, Matthew Winter.
