Darline Vogeler

Darline Vogeler, 91, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Anthony Ahrendt officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.

Darline Christine Buck was born on October 2, 1923, to Dick and Mary (Zentgraf) Buck in Summit Township of Richland County in North Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Tyler. After completing her formal education at Summit Township No. 7, she worked in Wahpeton for several years.

On October 15, 1948, Darline married Lester Vogeler at St. John's Lutheran Church near Tyler. The marriage was blessed with two daughters., They lived and farmed near Mooreton, ND, until 1983 when they retired and moved to Wahpeton.

Darline's faith meant everything to her, and the power of prayer was evident in her life. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and LWML, Barney, ND, for 35 years, where she held several offices. After retirement, she transferred her membership to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, where she continued her membership in LWML and attended Wednesday morning Bible Class for many years.

Darline was a charter member of the Mooreton Legion Auxiliary for over 60 years and held several offices while living near Mooreton. She continued that membership after retirement and also became a member of the Wahpeton VFW Auxiliary.

Caring for her family always came first. She also enjoyed baking and cooking, gardening, playing cards, and watching Twins games. Darline had belonged to two birthday clubs. She loved to entertain and was noted for her hospitality.

Darline is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lester Vogeler, Wahpeton; two daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Pankow, Willmar, MN and Barbara Vogeler, Fargo, ND; a grandson, Brent Pankow, Brooten, MN; two great grandchildren, Mikia and Nicholas, a brother-in-law, Lyle (Dolly) Vogeler, a sister-in-law, Hilda Vogeler, rural Galchutt, many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Ron Thimjon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie Thimjon, Laurette Shores, Viola Asbury and Hilda Buck; brothers, Alvin, John, Rudolph, Gerald, and Theodore Buck, who was killed in action in WWII.
